JeromeAs the Undersheriff of the Carson City Sheriff’s Office, Jerome Tushbant is second in command, and assists the Sheriff in managing all of the law enforcement services and activities of the organization, as well as coordinating public safety opportunities with other local, state, and federal law enforcement entities throughout the state.  Sheriff Ken Furlong promoted Jerome Tushbant to the position of Undersheriff in March 2020 following the retirement of Undersheriff Ken Sandage.  Undersheriff Tushbant, formerly Chief of Nevada Capitol Police, was brought to the Sheriff’s Executive Administration in December 2017 as an Assistant Sheriff of Administrative Services.

Undersheriff Tushbant holds educational degrees, including a Master of Justice Management from the University of Nevada Reno, Master of Business Administration, University of Phoenix, and Bachelor of Science, Criminal Justice, also from the University of Phoenix.  He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy, Class 282.

In his dedicated and proactive law enforcement career, he has specialized in training, coaching, and evaluating personnel to create teams of excellence.  He has brought to the Administration years of experience in investigations and background management, superior administrative and organizational skills, course facilitation, accountability, and exceptional interpersonal skills.

Undersheriff Jerome Tushbant holds certifications with the Nevada Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST), including Management and Supervisory Certifications, as well as Instructor Development, and California POST Leadership Development.  Undersheriff Tushbant has specialized training in Advanced Management, Major Case and Operations Management, Media Management, and Polygraph Examiner.
